When to make an accident Claim

If you have had an accident, then you need to make sure you time your compensation claim well. You want to make sure that you are within the three year deadline that you have to make a claim and you also need to make sure that you are fully recovered first.

The amount of compensation that you get is determined by the severity of the injury you have got. Unless you are fully recovered, you will not know exactly how severe it will be and so you will not be able to claim the full amount of compensation. There may also be costs associated with your injury. This could be in the form of lost salary, prescription costs or things like that. Until you are well enough to return to work and stop needing medical attention then you will not know the full amount of costs.

You obviously do not want to leave things too long because you do not want to risk missing your three year deadline. Therefore it could be a good idea to start searching for a solicitor after a couple of years and then get them started on the case. You do not know how long it might take them to gather the necessary evidence and put the case together and it may also take a while to get a court date.

You do not want to risk missing your opportunity to claim compensation, but you also want to make sure that you get everything that you are entitled to get. If you do things too early, you could miss out on thousands of pounds worth of compensation and costs. Some solicitors will want to hurry you because they will want to be paid more quickly, but make sure that you get things doen at the speed you want to do them at.
