Montreal is my favorite city. The reason for this is that while it is located in North America, it has a distinctly European feel. Some portions of the old port have attractive streets lined with cobblestones and the stone bioldings along St. Paul are faced with gray stone which gives the city a different feel. While there are those modern steel structure designs, they're all located in one area (good planning).
Additionally, the people of Montreal take food very seriously and it is nearly impossible to get a poorly prepared meal. Some of my favorite places to eat include Claude Postels (which is great for lunches) and the Bonaparte which is a very fine French restaurant. The other things that make montreal so special include the great slow pace of life and the people watching. I love to sit in the plaza Jacques Cartier and watch peopleand the worldgo by. Further out are other attractions including the jardin botanique which is a wonderful garden and the Jean talon market which is a fun and tasty farmer's market. |
